Learn to Ride

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

We are about to launch our new Learn To Ride programme.  This will kick off on Monday 4th April and is based in Pype Hayes.  Whether you are a complete beginner, someone who is returning after many years, or can already ride but want to gain a little more confidence, we have something for you.  It’s all free and we can provide bikes and equipment for the sessions.

See the Learn to Ride section of our website for more details

Level 2 adult Bikeability training

By | Uncategorised | No Comments
Bike North Birmingham Community Cycling has free places on adult Level 2 sessions over the next three Monday evenings in Pype Hayes (6th, 13th, 20th July).
To start a L2 session the trainee must already be able to control the cycle, make it go where they want, stop and start without help and be able to hold a proper signal with either arm for three seconds.  L2 is conducted on the road and teaches you how to ride safely in light trafic on quieter roads.  Depending upon experience people normally take one or two L2 sessions to fulfill the requirements.
Our training is done by qualified National Standards Instructors, and we can lend you one of our new bikes for the session if you do not have your own.  The sessions are, of course, free, and we try to make them as relaxed and fun as possible.
If you would like to come to one or more of our session then booking is essential: to book please email including your name, contact number, and a brief summary of your cycling experience.  Also, if you are a BBB bike winner please let us know.  Places are issues on a first come, first served basis.

On Line Booking

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

We now have an on-line booking facility in the Led Rides section of the forum.  This is something that people have been asking for for a long time, but please be a little more patient as we iron out the last few wrinkles!

From now onwards bookings will not be taken via the council.

Bike North Birmingham Community Cycling is born

By | General Cycling News, Uncategorised | No Comments

From April 2015, the Bike North Birmingham project has changed hands, or should that be handle bars!? Formally a Birmingham City Council owned cycling initiative, it has transformed into a volunteer run organisation called Bike North Birmingham Community Cycling.

Run by the community – for the community!

The same ethos remains – to promote cycling in the North Birmingham area, by offering a range of FREE cycle based services including: Led Rides; Adult ‘Learn to Ride’ sessions; Children’s ‘Ditch the Stabilisers’ classes; Cycle Maintenance classes and much more!

We hope to see you all soon.
