Learn to Ride

If you’ve never ridden a bike before, haven’t cycled for a while or perhaps you just need a confidence boost… WE CAN HELP!

Check out our range of FREE courses below.

Our adult Learn to Ride, Level 1 and Level 2 sessions start in April and go on to October.

Our Level 3 courses may be had at any time if there is an instructor free.

Learn to Ride: (For Adults)

For complete beginners and those returning after a long time away from bikes. Conducted in an off road area, well away from any traffic. We can supply a bike for you to learn on so this is a great way of trying cycling without spending any money!

National Standards Bikeability Level One: (For Adults)

This is for people who can ride a bike but want to master certain skills such as bike checks, controlled starts and stops, observation, signalling, use of gears and bike control in a traffic free environment before they go out onto the roads. We can supply a bike for you to learn on.

National Standards Bikeability Level Two: (For Adults)

This is for those who want to take their pedal strokes on the road, or for those already riding on the road who want to make sure that they are doing the basics correctly. It covers riding position, observation, communicating with other road users and negotiating junctions. It is conducted on quiet residential roads.  We can supply a bike for you to learn on.

National Standards Bikeability Level Three: (For Adults)

This is for those who who are already riding on the road but want to tackle busier or larger roads, and more complex junctions, and for those who already ride busier roads but would like some assurance that they are doing everything properly. It is conducted on busier roads. We can supply a bike for you to do a Level Three on but strongly suggest that you use your own if possible.

Ditch the Stabilizers: (For Children)

These sessions are for the kids who want to get rid of the stabilizers and learn to ride properly. It is conducted in an off road area, well away from any traffic and we can often supply bikes if needed. These sessions happen every few months.

PLEASE NOTE: The Bikeability Level One, Two and Three training is provided by National Standards trained instructors.  Sessions normally take place on Monday evenings during the Summer.
